Einride (ENRD) and Lidl have deployed an autonomous truck for daily operations on public roads in Germany, the companies said Tuesday.

The cab-less truck has no driver or safety operator on board. The vehicle is transporting goods between a Lidl warehouse and distribution center and a Lidl store, and is operating under an official permit from Germany's Federal Motor Transport Authority.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to address driver shortages, secure continuity in the flow of goods, and strengthen supply chain resiliency across Lidl's network, the companies said.
