STMicroelectronics (STM) on Monday introduced a 1.1-megapixel automotive image sensor designed to monitor drivers and passengers using infrared cameras.
The ST SafeSense VD56GA captures clearer infrared images while reducing camera size, integration needs and overall system costs, the company said.
STMicroelectronics said the sensor delivers 35% better image sharpness and nearly 60% higher light sensitivity than its previous generation.
The sensor comes in a 3.7 mm by 3.2 mm package and is designed for compact in-cabin cameras, the company said.
