Meeka Metals (ASX:MEK) eported an initial mineral resource of 270,000 ounces at 2.4 grams per tonne gold at its Mt Holland project in Western Australia, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.
The company said the area historically produced about 1.2 million ounces at 5.12 grams per tonne gold prior to 2001 from the Bounty gold mine when operations ceased due to gold price environment.
No significant gold-focused exploration has been conducted on Meeka's Mt Holland tenure in the past approximately 15 years, with a strong exploration and resource growth opportunity to be drilled over the next 12 to 18 months, Meeka added.
