9月16日是咸安区人大代表选举日。市委书记周锋，市委副书记、市长杨军等市领导，分别到各自所在选区参加投票，选举咸安区第七届人民代表大会代表，积极履行宪法和选举法赋予的民主权利，以实际行动践行全过程人民民主。
市人大常委会党组书记、主任朱庆刚，市政协党组书记、主席梁细林分别到各自选区参加选举投票。
在温泉街道第一选区第一投票站，现场氛围庄重热烈，投票工作按程序要求有序进行。周锋来到投票站，听取有关选举事项说明，察看候选人简介并填写选票，走到投票箱前郑重投下自己的一票。
当天，杨军在温泉街道第二选区第一投票站投票。其他市“四大家”领导在各自选区参加选举投票。
人民代表大会制度是我国的根本政治制度，依法行使选举权和被选举权，是人民当家作主的重要体现。自部署开展换届选举工作以来，我市坚决贯彻落实党中央决策部署和省委、市委工作要求，积极践行全过程人民民主，坚持把党的领导贯穿换届选举工作全过程，依法有序推进换届选举各项工作，严明换届纪律要求，充分保障了人民群众的选举权和被选举权。
