IonQ (IONQ) said Wednesday a joint research project with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Nvidia (NVDA), and the University of Tennessee showed that an artificial intelligence model can directly create quantum optimization circuits.

The generative model eliminates repetitive parameter-tuning loops, with circuit-finding time holding at nearly 28 seconds across the subproblem sizes tested, the company said.

During testing on a 100-variable benchmark problem, answer quality roughly doubled as subproblem sizes expanded, IonQ said.
