Omega Oil & Gas, Joint Venture Partners Secure Queensland Petroleum Land Release Area

Omega Oil & Gas (ASX:OMA) said the Queensland Government selected the company-led joint venture as the preferred tenderer for the PLR2026-1-10 petroleum land release area in the Taroom Trough under the state's Petroleum and Gas Land Release Program, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.

The land release area spans 1,138 square kilometers and expands the company's operated acreage position to 2,947 square kilometers, the filing said.

The company and its joint venture partners will start permitting and land access activities upon formal acceptance of the new acreage area.

The joint venture comprises Omega, the operator, which holds a 45% stake, Tri-Star E&P, which holds 30%, and Beach Energy (ASX:BPT), which holds 25%, per the filing.

Omega Oil & Gas shares fell 1% in morning trade Thursday, while Beach Energy shares fell 3%.
