3年期国债收益率收窄了早前的跌幅，交易员强化对澳大利亚央行将在9月会议上加息的预期。交易员认为，澳大利亚央行将在会议上加息的可能性约为90%，高于布洛克国会作证之前的约84%预期。
这是布洛克自澳大利亚央行8月政策决定以来首次发表重要公开评论。当时，澳大利亚央行连续第二次会议维持关键利率在4.35%不变。官员们一直暗示，他们越来越担心通胀水平过高且持续时间过长，并担忧物价将面临进一步上涨的压力。
布洛克表示，“我理解，对于那些背负房贷且面临生活成本压力的澳大利亚人来说，更高的利率会带来困难。但降低通胀至关重要。”
