堪萨斯城联邦储备银行行长杰夫·施密德表示自己支持了本周的加息，认为这是抑制高通胀的必要措施，因为背后的驱动因素不仅仅是油价上涨。
施密德表示，即使剔除能源后通胀“也一直过热”。他还说，“广泛的商品和服务”也出现了有悖美联储价格稳定目标的涨价。
“美联储在通胀上还有工作要做，本周的行动就是朝着这个方向迈出的一步，” 施密德周五在科罗拉多州Vail的一个活动上说，“油价上涨一直是通胀高企的重要驱动，但必须认识到我们的通胀问题可不仅仅与能源有关。”
施密德表示，劳动力市场似乎处于平衡状态，而经济也在稳健增长。
美联储周三决定加息25个基点，“点阵图”显示多数官员预计年内还会加息一次。
