本报讯 记者唐佳丽报道 9月17日，沈阳桃仙国际机场第二跑道项目飞行区工程建设启动，标志着辽沈人民期盼多年的航空枢纽扩容升级迈出关键一步，对于沈阳乃至辽宁民航发展具有里程碑意义。
沈阳桃仙国际机场第二跑道项目是辽宁省、沈阳市“十五五”期间重点工程，也是关乎长远发展的百年工程。项目建成后可满足年旅客吞吐量4500万人次、货邮吞吐量40万吨的需求。高质量建设沈阳桃仙国际机场第二跑道，既是解决当前机场跑道容量不足、提升综合保障能力的迫切需要，也是助力沈阳建设东北亚国际化中心城市和国际性综合交通枢纽的重要实践，更是支撑辽宁全面振兴、深度融入共建“一带一路”的具体行动。
在省、市两级政府的强力推动下，在军方相关单位和民航行业管理部门的积极支持下，项目前期工作跑出“加速度”。近期飞行区工程地基处理、土方开挖回填等建设工程将先行推进，预计于2029年完工。
