路透华盛顿9月17日 - 美国参议院一个委员会周四沿党派路线投票，通过了唐纳德·特朗普总统提名的(link)Capital One COF.N 高管布莱恩·约翰逊出任消费者金融保护局局长的提名，为参议院全体投票铺平了道路。
由共和党主导的参议院银行委员会以13票赞成、11票反对的结果批准了约翰逊的提名，尽管民主党人提出异议，认为他与未来将监管的行业关系过于密切，而且白宫在最初曾试图彻底废除 (link) 消费者金融保护局（CFPB）之后，却又提出了他的提名。
目前尚不清楚参议院全体会议何时能审议约翰逊的提名。不过，特朗普政府表示已暂停 (link) 此前 (link) 解雇CFPB绝大多数员工的计划，以便曾于特朗普政府第一任期内担任CFPB副主任的约翰逊考虑是否继续推进这些计划。
