Boston Dynamics launched a new Robotics Metaplant Application Center (RMAC) at Hyundai Motor (KRX:005380)'s U.S. metaplant, according to a Monday statement.

The center will serve as a testbed and training facility for integrating the company's Atlas humanoid robots into Hyundai Motor Group's automotive manufacturing operations, the company said

Atlas robots are being trained to prepare and sequence automotive parts before assembly, with applications expected to expand to component assembly by 2030. Boston Dynamics also plans to explore Atlas uses in manufacturing, aerospace, semiconductors, logistics, food and beverage, and life sciences.

The company plans to deploy 25,000 Atlas robots at Hyundai Motor and Kia plants worldwide over the next few years and will build a U.S. facility capable of producing 30,000 robots annually. The RMAC's first phase is operational, with a new facility planned next year to expand the center about tenfold, Boston Dynamics said.
