消息面上，9月23日，美国公布9月PMI数据显示，服务业PMI升至58.7，制造业同步走强，经济活动的扩张速度远超预期。但由于美国国债遭遇猛烈抛售，10年期美债收益率盘中飙升至5.135%，创下2007年7月以来的最高水平，并录得2025年4月以来最大单日升幅；对政策利率更敏感的2年期收益率也升至4.947%，触及2024年5月以来高点。受此影响，纳指领跌美股三大指数，科技股等高估值成长资产承压。
另外，美债收益率的飙升，又因美联储理事迈克尔·巴尔的讲话而被进一步放大。巴尔表示，美国经济依然强劲、劳动力市场稳健，但通胀仍高于2%的目标且回落速度不够快，在基准情景下未来可能仍需进一步调整货币政策。CME FedWatch数据显示，市场对美联储10月再次加息的押注从讲话前的55%附近迅速升至66%以上。
