Viatris Facing Multiple Paths to Earnings Growth, Oppenheimer Says

Viatris (VTRS) is facing multiple paths to earnings growth with an improving base business and a late-stage pipeline that includes two potential blockbuster assets, Oppenheimer said in a Wednesday note.

"We believe the market continues to value Viatris as a declining generics and established-brands company," Oppenheimer said, noting factors such as price declines, declining established brands and generic competition.

However, the company's growth in China, new products and value-added medicines should support revenue growth, while an improving mix, share buybacks and about $400 million in expected net savings should drive faster earnings growth, the brokerage noted.

Near-term launches of Gwyn Lo and Meloxicam also represent revenue opportunities, potentially bridging Viatris to its 2027 catalysts, Oppenheimer added. These catalysts include Phase 3 data readouts for the company's Selatogrel and Cenerimod therapies in the first half of 2027.

Oppenheimer initiated coverage of Viatris with an outperform rating and a $25 price target.
