Shimizu (TYO:1803) has decided to expand its share buyback limit, doubling the maximum number of shares from 6 million to 12 million and raising the aggregate purchase amount to 20 billion yen from 10 billion yen, according to a Thursday Tokyo bourse filing.

The buyback is intended to mitigate short‑term supply and demand impacts from the issuance of zero‑coupon convertible bonds due 2031 and 2033, while improving capital efficiency and supporting smooth financing.

The purchase period remains Aug. 17 to Dec. 30, with methods expanded to include off‑auction transactions in addition to market purchases on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

As of Sept. 18, the company had purchased 793,000 shares for 1.9 billion yen under the original resolution, bringing cumulative purchases to 1.3 million shares for 3.16 billion yen.
