ChainCatcher 消息，据韩国《中小企业新闻》9 月 28 日报道，相关业界人士称，SK 海力士已在日本东北地区启动半导体工厂设立所需的基础工程。一名相关人士表示，目前尚不清楚该项目是独立工厂还是与铠侠的合资工厂，但当地正在推进地基工程，SK 海力士也已要求韩国国内零部件企业扩大供应。
报道称，截至一个月前，SK 海力士对在日本建设存储半导体工厂的表态仍是“正在研究”，并称“没有具体决定事项”。针对此次消息，SK 海力士方面表示，日本存储半导体工厂目前仍处于研究阶段，没有进一步推进的事项。
报道还提到，SK 集团会长崔泰源今年 8 月曾表示正在研究在日本建设存储半导体合资工厂，东北地区随后被视为有力候选地。日本东北及岩手县已聚集铠侠北上工厂、Japan Semiconductor、安靠科技、电装和东京电子等半导体及材料零部件企业。
