CarMax Fiscal Q2 Earnings, Sales Rise; Shares Up Pre-Bell

CarMax (KMX) reported fiscal Q2 net earnings Tuesday of $1.16 per diluted share, up from $0.64 a year earlier.
Four analysts polled by FactSet expected $0.80.
Net sales and operating revenue for the quarter ended Aug. 31 were $7.88 billion, up from $6.59 billion a year earlier.
Analysts expected $7.09 billion.
The company plans to resume share repurchases at "a modest level" in fiscal Q3, it said.
CarMax shares were up 3.9% in premarket activity.
