Korea's Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) Governor Lee Chan-jin met with heads of 28 securities firms, calling on them to enhance shareholder value and strengthen risk management, The Korea Times reported on Tuesday.

He noted that local brokerages have posted record profits during the stock market rally, and said firms benefiting most from capital market growth should take a greater role in driving market reform, the news agency said.

Lee also urged better oversight of investor loans to curb market volatility, the publication said.

Additionally, he pressed securities firms to prepare more thoroughly for rising interest rates, the report said.
