U.S. Treasury Yields Climb to Fresh Highs Ahead Economic Data

1553 ET - U.S. bond market continue to sell off, pushing yields higher, as oil prices remain volatile amid conflicting headlines between the U.S. and Iran. The U.S. 10-year yield rose to 5.241%, the highest level since June 2007. The two-year U.S. Treasury yield reached 4.922%, its highest yield since May 2024. The 30-year Treasury yield touched 5.561% the highest yield since June 2002. Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook said she expects continuing inflationary pressure from the build-out of artificial intelligence in the coming months. Tuesday brings a slate of Fed speakers who may weigh in on their decision to raise interest rates at the September meeting.
