Thomson Reuters (TRI) won a copyright dispute with Ross Intelligence as a US appeals court upheld a ruling against the legal technology firm over its alleged misuse of copyrighted material to train an AI-powered legal search engine, Reuters reported Tuesday.
The 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Ross' claim that its search engine made fair use of material from Thomson Reuters' Westlaw platform, the media outlet added.
Thomson Reuters and Ross Intelligence did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
