The U.S. Bond Market's Wild Quarter

Dow Jones
Yesterday

Today is the final day of a quarter that's been marked by a relentless selloff in government bonds.

The rout has driven U.S. Treasury yields-which move inversely to prices-to multidecade highs. Both the 10- and 30-year Treasury yields settled yesterday at their highest levels since 2002.

But could this be a quarter for the record books? Our colleagues at Dow Jones Market Data ran the numbers.

-- The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield is on track for its largest quarterly gain since 2016, notching a rise of nearly 0.85 percentage point through yesterday's settle.

-- The two-year yield has risen about 0.75 percentage point. That would mark the largest quarterly gain since mid-2023.

-- The 30-year yield has risen almost 0.7 percentage point, on track for the largest quarterly rise in two years.
