CoreWeave Stock Rises After Neocloud Goes Live with New Nvidia Hardware

Shares of CoreWeave rose Wednesday after the artificial-intelligence cloud provider unveiled several new capabilities at its flagship customer conference, headlined by the availability of Nvidia's latest hardware.

Customers now have access to the Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72, a complex AI platform Nvidia calls a "supercomputer," CoreWeave announced at its first ever Fully Connected conference. The company will also offer the Nvidia Vera CPU, a central processing unit built to support AI agents.

Beyond the new gear, CoreWeave unveiled CoreWeave Forge, a software platform that allows customers to train, use, and manage AI agents and models.

CoreWeave stock rose 1.1% in morning trading. Shares are up more than 21% this year, but remain down 53% from their all-time closing high last June, just a few months after the company's initial public offering.

The announcements reflect the breakneck pace of the AI race, with CoreWeave competing against other so-called neoclouds like Nebius Group and large cloud providers, such as Amazon.com and Alphabet. CoreWeave's calling card is speed: It wants to equip data centers with Nvidia chips as quickly as possible to meet AI demand.

It doesn't hurt that Nvidia is CoreWeave's second-largest shareholder after making a $2 billion investment in January.

Cognition, which makes an AI software development tool, is the first CoreWeave customer running production workloads on Nvidia's Vera Rubin NVL72 supercomputers.

No customers are officially using the Vera CPU yet, with CoreWeave still in the early phases of that release, said Corey Sanders, the company's senior vice president of product. CoreWeave expects some customers to start testing in the coming weeks.

While Nvidia's graphics processing units, or GPUs, have been crucial for training AI models, industry analysts believe CPUs will become more significant in the coming years as AI shifts from training to deploying autonomous agents.
