Singapore's STI Falls 0.68%; UMS Gains Over 3%, Venture Drops 2.8%

Stocks in Singapore slipped Wednesday, as the FTSE Straits Times Index declined 0.68% to 5675.88.

Among local companies with a market cap of at least 1 billion Singapore dollars ($783.3 million), Venture was the biggest laggard, falling 2.8%, followed by shares of Food Empire Holdings, which fell 2.1%. Shares of Keppel fell 1.7%.

UMS was the biggest leader during the session, gaining 3.04%, and Hutchison Port Hldgs Tr increased 2.4%. China Aviation Oil rounded out the top three movers, as shares gained 2.3%.

In the bond markets, the 10-year Singaporean government bond yield fell 12 basis points to 2.470%.
