Warner Bros. Discovery's (WBD) news service CNN, Versant Media's MS NOW, and Politico on Monday asked a federal court to block a Trump Administration ban on their operations on White House grounds until the underlying legal case is resolved, AP reported on Tuesday.
The news organizations said the administration has continued to apply the restrictions inconsistently despite a temporary restraining order requiring the White House to restore their access, according to the filing. They cited the administration's decision to bar CNN reporters from joining the presidential press pool for a Saturday Air Force One trip.
A two-week temporary restraining order on the Trump Administration's ban on the news organizations was issued by a federal judge last week and legally restored White House access to the three outlets, but that order expires Oct. 8.
The outlets are seeking a preliminary injunction that would maintain their White House access while their lawsuit proceeds, according to the report. The Trump administration has until Friday to respond to the request, while the outlets are scheduled to file a final written brief the following Monday, the report said.
CNN, MS NOW and Politico did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
