路透10月2日 - 哈里伯顿公司（HAL.N）周五表示，已通知阿根廷当局，该公司将不会参与“海狮”（Sea Lion）海上石油项目，也不会参与福克兰群岛（阿根廷称马尔维纳斯群岛）及其周边地区的油气勘探和生产活动。
这家油田服务提供商补充称，阿根廷联邦当局就该公司可能参与该项目，以及在争议领土内开展活动时现行和拟议立法的执行情况提出了质疑。

该声明发布之际，阿根廷总统哈维尔·米莱正通过宣布计划制裁参与该英国海外领地周边石油开发的公司，从而加强 (link) 该国对福克兰群岛的主权主张。
今年9月，米莱曾提出一项法案 (link)，旨在打击在福克兰群岛开展业务的公司，这可能加剧阿根廷与英国之间围绕该领土的紧张局势——该领土目前由英国控制，但阿根廷声称对其拥有主权。
