CSPC Pharmaceutical Group (HKG:1093) reported blood sugar reductions of up to 1.38 percentage points in a Phase III study of its efmedaglutide alfa injection in Chinese adults with type 2 diabetes.

At Week 28, the 15-mg dose reduced HbA1c by 1.38 percentage points from baseline and was non-inferior to dulaglutide 1.5 mg, the company said in a Wednesday filing on the Hong Kong Exchange.

The reduction was sustained through Week 52, with HbA1c falling 1.31 percentage points versus 1.25 percentage points for dulaglutide.

CSPC said the safety profiles were generally similar across the treatment groups, with gastrointestinal events being the most common adverse events. No severe hypoglycemia was reported.
