Nidec (TYO:6594) plans to boost governance and risk management, reform its corporate culture and compliance, and improve its accounting and audit functions to address material weaknesses in its internal controls, according to a Thursday presentation.
The Japanese motor manufacturer also plans to shift company resources into growth areas like data centers instead of its core home appliance and automotive businesses.
The strategic shift follows an accounting scandal that prompted Nidec to restate its cumulative operating profit spanning fiscal 2020 through fiscal 2024 to 437.3 billion yen.
