智通财经APP获悉，明尼阿波利斯联储主席尼尔·卡什卡利表示，他怀疑美国经济正在萎缩、唯一支撑来自人工智能相关建设热潮的观点。卡什卡利周三在纽约外交关系委员会活动上表示，“我对经济其他部分正在收缩表示怀疑，”“如果看企业利润，许多经济部门总体上都非常强劲，而不仅仅是那些直接与AI建设相关的行业。”
这位明尼阿波利斯联储主席指出，目前美国失业率为4.1%，全国裁员“非常低”，全国失业救济申请也“非常低”，但他承认住房市场正承受压力。
“我认为，许多经济部门表现良好。但AI显然是真正的增长引擎。”他说。
美联储决策者在9月15日至16日会议上一致投票决定加息25个基点，为2023年以来首次加息。根据中位数预测，他们还支持今年再加息一次、明年加息一次。
卡什卡利表示，他的预测与中位数一致，但补充称新数据可能改变他的展望。
他说，通胀仍然过高，他希望美联储能通过适度调整遏制价格增长。
美国央行官员越来越担心，通胀并未局限于受中东冲突或关税影响的类别。
“能源几乎渗透到我们购买的所有东西中。”卡什卡利说。“去和公司谈谈。整个经济的运输成本都在上升，既因为燃料价格，也因为劳动力供应。”
