Applied Digital shares rose Friday morning after the company said it has brought an additional 75 megawatts of computing power online at its data center campus in North Dakota.
Shares rose 10% to $26.67.
The data center company said it has achieved Ready for Service status for the second phase of Building 2 at its Polaris Forge 1 campus, bringing total operational critical IT load at the campus to 250 megawatts.
Critical IT load, or computing power, refers to the processing capacity required by high-performance data centers to run complex algorithms, train artificial intelligence models and process high volumes of data. Demand for infrastructure has surged as tech giants and cloud providers race to deploy their AI applications that require large amounts of power and specialized hardware to run.
The milestone completes Building 2's full 150 megawatt of critical IT load and brings it a step close to full build out. The facility is contracted to deliver 400 megawatts of critical IT load.
