Ballard Power Systems shares rose Friday after the company said it is starting fuel cell lifecycle service and warranty program aimed at transit operators in North America.
Shares rose 3.1% to 2.96 Canadian dollars ($2.08).
The hydrogen fuel cell company said late Thursday it is launching Ballard Fleet360, an end-to-end service program offering paired with sales of its FCmove -HD+ heavy duty engines.
The program brings together fuel cell data, technical support, parts assurance, technician training and refurbishment options, and provides fuel cell module performance guarantee for power output of up to 250,000 miles of fuel cell operation.
"With Fleet360, we are backing our technology with a defined performance guarantee, supported by the information, parts and technical support maintenance teams need," Chief Operating Officer Ralph Robinett said .
The launch comes shortly after Ballard completed its acquisition of GeoPura, advancing its pivot beyond fuel cell engines toward a broader Energy-as-a-Service business model that includes hydrogen production, logistics and refueling.
