Tech stocks were higher Thursday afternoon, with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) rising 1.2% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) up 1.8%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor index added 2%.
In corporate news, Accenture (ACN) reported stronger-than-expected fiscal Q4 results on Thursday, and it forecast earnings and revenue in the ongoing fiscal year to rise annually. Its shares jumped 18%.
Micron Technology (MU) late Wednesday provided a fiscal Q1 outlook above Wall Street's estimates and reported stronger-than-expected Q4 results amid rising memory prices. Micron shares rose 1.4%.
Broadcom (AVGO) has agreed to lend Amazon-backed (AMZN) Anthropic up to $42 billion to finance infrastructure spending under a partnership covering chip supply, equipment leasing and financing, Reuters reported, citing Anthropic's IPO prospectus documents. Broadcom shares were down 0.4%.
