根据英国海上贸易行动办公室的一份报告，一艘油轮周三在卡塔尔附近海域遭弹射物击中，这是波斯湾深处发生的一起罕见袭击事件。
英国海上贸易行动办公室表示，该船在卡塔尔最北端城市Madinat ash Shamal以北海域遇袭。据报有人员伤亡，当局正在展开调查，但未透露涉事船只身份，也未指出袭击责任方。
这是约一个月来首次有油轮在波斯湾深处遭袭。9月9日，英国海上贸易行动办公室曾表示，一艘船只在伊拉克法奥（Al-Faw）东南约28海里处遭不明弹射物击中。此后发生的大部分袭击均集中在霍尔木兹海峡及其周边地区。
此次袭击正值华盛顿与德黑兰之间的紧张关系再度升温之际。据两名美国政府官员称，白宫已要求五角大楼拟定针对伊朗的打击方案，以便在美国中期选举前实施。报道称，潜在打击行动的规模和目标，以及政府是否会最终推进相关计划，目前仍在讨论之中。
