Dimerix (ASX:DXB) said the first patient successfully completed two years in an open label extension study of DMX-200 for the potential treatment of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, a life-threatening kidney disease, in addition to two years in the Action3 phase 3 trial, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.
The open label extension study allows patients who complete a phase three clinical trial to receive DMX-200 for up to two years regardless of whether they received DMX-200 or placebo during the blinded phase of the trial.
The phase three trial remains ongoing with the adult group fully recruited, and patients who complete the open label extension study will be offered continued access to DMX-200 once ethics approval for a post-trial-access scheme is obtained, Dimerix said.
It added that more than 90% of eligible patients who completed the phase three trial have elected to continue into the two-year open label study, data from which could support future regulatory and commercial activities for DMX-200.
Shares of Dimerix rose nearly 7% in recent Monday trade.
