Materials up on Growth Hopes

Producers of metals, grains and other raw materials rose as traders bet the global economic recovery would continue despite recent inflation scares.

Rate-sensitive gold futures recouped some of their recent losses as Treasury yields declined.

Anglo American warned it may have to close its Brazilian nickel operations if European Union authorities veto an up to $500 million sale to a unit of Australian miner MMG.
