Amazon.com is discussing a deal to acquire Decart, an artificial intelligence start-up whose software allows developers to more easily switch between AI chips, according to The Wall Street Journal.

A potential deal potentially valued at around $7 billion could come together soon, assuming talks don't fall apart and no other suitors emerge, the Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

Decart, based in San Francisco and founded in 2023 by three Israeli engineers, brothers Dean and Orian Leitersdorf and Moshe Shalev, is developing world models known as Lucy and Oasis that can generate and simulate real-world 3-D environments, according to the report.

The company has raised more than $400 million in venture capital funding from investors including Sequoia Capital, Benchmark, and Radical Ventures, according to PitchBook, and was valued at nearly $4 billion in May.
