The brake pedals on an ultra-luxury model of the Zunjie V800, a joint electric vehicle project of Anhui Jianghuai Automobile (SHA:600418), or JAC Motors, and Huawei, snapped during safety trials, The Standard reported Thursday.

The brake pedal became unresponsive, forcing the test driver to use the parking gear to decelerate, extending the stopping distance to 140 meters from 38 meters, the report said.

JAC and Huawei did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.

JAC Motor's shares plunged 10% during afternoon trading on Frdiay.
