Hong Kong stocks ended mixed on Wednesday as rising oil prices added to inflation concerns, while investors remained cautious about technology valuations ahead of key U.S. inflation data.

The Hang Seng Index fell 31.05 points, or 0.1%, to close at 24,314.17, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 8.45 points, or 0.1%, to 8,183.17.

The Hang Seng TECH 100 Index dropped 0.5% as investors reassessed high valuations and spending on artificial intelligence.

Brent crude rose amid attacks on energy infrastructure, adding to concerns about inflation. China's producer price inflation also accelerated to 5.0% in September from 3.8% in August, exceeding forecasts and marking its fastest pace since June 2022.

Investors now await U.S. consumer and producer inflation data due Wednesday and Thursday for clues on the Federal Reserve's interest-rate outlook.

Among individual stocks, Standard Chartered (HKG:2888) fell nearly 4% after launching cryptocurrency trading for eligible affluent clients in the United Arab Emirates, allowing them to buy and sell Bitcoin and Ether through their bank accounts.

Poly Xverse Intelligent Technology (HKG:0209) jumped 40% after revising the price of its proposed share placement to HK$0.36 from HK$0.34 and bringing forward the deadline for meeting the transaction's conditions to Oct. 23.
