Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) is working to attract more international investment, including by introducing multi-asset offerings and advancing the internationalization of the Chinese yuan, among other initiatives, to meet the capital needs of high-growth Asian companies, the bourse operator's CEO Bonnie Chan Yi-ting said in a blog post on Monday.
The executive said she plans to launch more indices with onshore and offshore ecosystems, redesign RMB-denominated gold futures contracts, build more RMB-denominated precious metals products, and expand equity derivatives and futures products linked to Mainland Chinese and regional markets.
HKEX also aims to simplify the public listing process, attract more REITs to join the Southbound exchanges, improve its existing platforms by integrating AI, and explore the use of a virtual Hong Kong dollar, as part of a revamp to further fortify the region's image as a crucial financial hub in Asia.
