Orthocell (ASX:OCC) will present an initial five-patient case series for the use of its Remplir nerve repair product in prostatectomy procedures in clinically complex patients as a pilot for early functional recovery data, according to a Tuesday Australian bourse filing.

Remplir was placed in all five patients undergoing robotic prostatectomy, per the filing. All patients underwent extensive removal of tumor tissue with nerve preservation only feasible on one side, with 80% of the patients demonstrating "encouraging" urinary continence outcomes, and 75% of patients with erectile function prior to surgery showed a return of erectile function.

The case series will inform a planned prospective clinical trial, which will investigate the product's potential to support an earlier return of erectile function and urinary continence following radical robotic prostatectomys with advanced prostate cancer.

The biotech company's shares advanced past 4% in recent trading on Tuesday.
