Stocks rose Monday as technology names got a boost following the release of Anthropic's initial public offering filing, rekindling confidence in the artificial-intelligence trade.

Brazilian stocks tumbled following a shock victory for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the presidential election Sunday. Brewer Ambev slumped 15%, oil major Petróleo Brasileiro plunged 19%, and investment management company XP Inc. crashed 51%.

SpaceX declined 1.3%. CEO Elon Musk said in a post on X that the rocket and AI company had secured $40 billion in debt financing to buy graphics processing units.

Musk added that so-called neoclouds, which sell AI computing, would suffer "guppy-level death and consolidation" because debt markets have stopped lending to them. Shares of CoreWeave fell 0.9%, while fellow neoclouds IREN and Nebius were down 1.7% and 3.9% respectively.

Meta Platforms was down 0.8%. The social-media company said it was launching a $35 billion stock offering and it could sell $60 billion more next year.

Verizon declined 2.2%. The wireless carrier beat Wall Street's estimates for third-quarter adjusted earnings and raised its fiscal 2026 guidance. But the company narrowly missed its revenue estimates for the quarter. Shares of rival AT&T gained 0.9%, while T-Mobile fell 1.1%.

Range Resources jumped 16% after natural gas producer EQT said it would acquire the company for about $12.83 billion. Under the all-stock deal, shareholders will receive 0.987 shares of EQT for each of their shares, valuing the stock at $54.91 -- a 21% premium to its latest close. Shares of EQT declined 2.9%.

Oil stocks were sliding as investors bet on a cooldown in tensions between the U.S. and Iran, which dragged down crude prices. Chevron slid 0.4%, ConocoPhillips dipped 0.2%, and ExxonMobil slipped 0.1%.
