For New Users
Step 1: Select Account Type
During the account opening process, navigate to the "Account Type Selection" page.
Choose "Margin Account".
Read and understand the benefits and risks of a margin account.
Step 2: Provide Financial Information
Enter your Annual Income Before Tax (in AUD).
Enter your total Liquid Assets (in AUD).
The system will automatically calculate the total and display the maximum margin limit you are eligible for.
Select an appropriate margin limit based on your financial capacity.
Step 3: Upload Financial Documents

To ensure the margin facility and loan limits are extended only to clients with appropriate financial capacity, you are required to meet the financial capacity criteria set out below, corresponding to the requested loan limit.

If your Tiger cash account balance already meets the financial requirements, no documents are needed.
Otherwise, upload at least one of the following (up to 10 files):
Proof of Liquid Assets (dated within the last 30 days):
Bank statements or screenshots of everyday or online savings accounts (term deposits are not accepted)
Documents must show the account name, balance, and date. Multiple documents or screenshots may be combined to meet this requirement.
Statements or screenshots of accounts held with other brokers
Documents must show the date, account name and balance, including cash and market value of holdings. Multiple documents or screenshots may be combined to meet this requirement.
Step 4: Sign Agreements
Read and check the boxes to agree to the Margin Lending Terms & Conditions, Product Disclosure Statement, and Risk Disclosure Statement.
Confirm that you understand and accept the associated risks.
Step 5: Submit Application
After submission, a cash account will be opened first.
You can deposit funds and trade with the cash account while your margin application is under review.
Once approved, your account will be automatically upgraded to a margin account, and you will be notified via the Tiger Trade app and email.
For Existing Cash Account Users
Step 1: Access Upgrade Entry
Via Tiger Trade app: Go to "Portfolio" → "Account", click on "Upgrade to Margin Account".
Step 2: Confirm Source of Funding
Follow the instructions and reconfirm your "Source of Funding" .
Step 3: Provide Financial Information
Enter your Annual Income Before Tax (in AUD).
Enter your total Liquid Assets (in AUD).
The system will automatically calculate the total and display the maximum margin limit you are eligible for.
Select an appropriate margin limit based on your financial capacity.
Step 4: Upload Financial Documents
If your Tiger cash account balance already meets the financial requirements, no documents are needed.
Otherwise, upload at least one of the following (up to 10 files):
Proof of Income: Recent two payslips, ATO tax return, etc.
Proof of Liquid Assets: Bank statements or brokerage account screenshots dated within the last 30 days.
Step 5: Sign Agreements
Read and check the boxes to agree to the Margin Lending Terms & Conditions, Product Disclosure Statement, and Risk Disclosure Statement.
Confirm that you understand and accept the associated risks.
Step 6: Submit Upgrade Request
After submission, your application will be reviewed.
Any pending orders in your cash account will be canceled upon successful upgrade and must be re-replaced in the margin account.
You will be notified of the result via the app and email.
Important Notes
If you select "To upload later" for your proof of financial capacity, you will receive a reminder in the Tiger Trade app, to submit your documents as soon as possible.
Upon successful upgrade, all cash and holdings in your cash account will be automatically transferred to the margin account.
