What is 2FA?
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a security process that requires two different forms of verification before you can access an account or system.
Why is it important to enable 2FA for your account?
It is a way to make your account more secure by adding an extra layer of security against hacking. This safeguards your account from unauthorized access even if your passwords might have been compromised.
How does 2FA work?
Two steps are needed when logging in with 2FA:
1. Your password
2. A one-time password (OTP) sent to you or an alternative verification method that authenticates your identity
This means that after entering your password, you will need to confirm your identity via one of the following methods:
· A unique code sent to your phone or your Tiger Token
· A biometric scan
· Your Device ID (based on a list of pre-authenticated devices)
What is Device ID?
Device ID is a unique, device-linked, tamperproof identifier that is created during the initial login process using a proprietary algorithm.
Why is Tiger Brokers implementing 2FA in their log in process?
This implementation is part of our continuous commitment to improving account security for customers as well as to ensure that Tiger Brokers fully meets the security standards required by Regulatory Compliance.
Is it mandatory that users log in via 2FA?
Yes, it is mandatory to ensure the security of our customers’ accounts. After the introduction of our new security measures from app version 9.3.9 onwards (12 September 2025), customers will only be able to access their online financial services when they log in using the 2FA methods described above.
Why is there a pop-up message prompting me to enter my account password?
This is part of the new security update to ensure that all users enable 2FA during their initial login process. This would include users that had previously been accessing their account using methods such as triggering an OTP to their registered mobile number..
What happens if I lose or change my phone?
Once you have set the password for your account, you will be able to register new mobile devices using the initial 2FA process again.
Will I need to remember more passwords?
No, you will only need to remember the password for logging into your account. All other methods of authentication will not require you to remember any additional details.
When will I need to perform an initial login process?
You will only need to perform an initial login when using a new device.
For security reasons, devices that have been inactive for an extended duration will be considered new devices.
What is the difference between my login and trading password?
The new 2FA measures are only applicable for account login purposes. Your trading password is needed for trade-related functions such as performing a trade transaction, checking debit card details, etc.
